Tim and I have been friends for a really long time. Almost ten years, I think. Friendship and reconnecting seem to be the key themes for the blog. And that’s exactly what this photoshoot was all about. Tim has gotten really great at taking photos, and I love to have my photo taken… And we had never shot together before! And to top it off, Tim had this really cool LED light that he wanted to experiment with, and I was happy to oblige. What a perfect way to catch up, and get some shots for our portfolios.
It was really cold and there were no leaves on the trees, but the laughter was sunny and the tea was hot.
Because it was so cold outside, I had to dig out my trusty grey Roxy peacoat (which has a totally broken zipper, but I can’t bring myself to part with it) that has been buried in a box in the basement since last spring. I love this coat because it’s a great length, and the asymmetrical/off-to-the-side zipper is too cool. And it was $60 at Winners. Along with the zipper being broken, it’s also way too tight around my arms (like I totally can’t lift them) and I absolutely cannot fit anything more than a tee underneath (damn boobs….)
I paired the jacket with a black v-neck tee, and one of my favourite scarves, that I also had to dig out of a bin in the basement. Scarves are one of my favourite accessories, and I felt that the colours in this one would complement my hair and glasses really nicely. And on the bottom was just a pair of American Eagle dark-wash skinny jeggings…. if I’m being honest, I really only wear AE denim. I don’t know. I’m partial to it. It fits (mostly) and its relatively inexpensive (HA.).
For hair and makeup, I went pretty simple. I don’t have a lot of portfolio photos that show me with my hair up, and it’s been SO LONG since I’ve had bangs, that I just went with a messy ponytail. The remnants of my last colour wash really stood out against the greyness of the neighbourhood. Makeup consisted of a basic shadow and eyeliner, heavy on the mascara (like always), and my new favourite secret weapon: Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in ‘Lolita’. While I resent the colour name a bit, I’m in love with the colour and the formula. It’s easy to apply, and stays all day… even after a cup of tea.
Here are some of my favourites from the day.
